Use one of the following methods to reset the printer settings to the original settings from the factory.
Resetting the factory settings restores most of the printer settings to their factory defaults. However, some settings are not changed, such as language, date, time, and some network configuration settings.
Method one: Reset the factory settings from the printer control panel
Use this method to reset the factory settings from the printer control panel.
The steps vary according to the type of control panel.
FUTURESMART 3 CONTROL PANELS
FUTURESMART 4 OR 5 CONTROL PANELS
Find your printer control-panel type in the options below, and then follow the steps provided.
FutureSmart 3
Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 3 control panel.

Press the Home button
on the printer control panel.

Open the following menus:

Administration

General Settings
-
Restore Factory Settings
A verification message advises that completing the reset function might result in loss of data.

Select Reset to complete the process.
The printer restarts automatically after the reset operation completes.
FutureSmart 4 or 5
Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 4or 5 control panel.

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, open the Settings menu.

Open the following menus:

General

Reset Factory Settings

Select Reset.

Select Reset again to complete the process.
The printer restarts automatically after the reset operation completes.
Method two: Reset the factory settings from the HP Embedded Web Server (network-connected printers only)
Use this method to reset the factory settings from the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS). To use this method, the printer must be connected to a network.
The steps vary according to the type of control panel.

FutureSmart 3
Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 3 control panel.

Obtain the printer's IP address:

4-line LCD control panel: View the Home screen on the printer control panel to see the IP address.

Touchscreen control panel: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Network button
to display the IP address or host name.

Open the Embedded Web Server:
-
On your computer, open a Web browser, and in the address bar, type the printer's IP address or host name exactly as it displayed on the printer control panel.

Press Enter on the computer keyboard.
The EWS opens.

On the EWS Home page, click the General tab.

In the left navigation pane, click Restore Factory Settings.

Click the Reset button.
The printer restarts automatically after the reset operation completes.

Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 4 or 5 control panel.

Obtain the printer's IP address:

Keypad control panels: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, press the Information button
, then use the arrow keys to select the Ethernet menu. Press the OK button to open the menu and view the IP address or host name.

Touchscreen control panel: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Information icon
, and then touch the Network icon
to display the IP address or host name.

Open the Embedded Web Server:

On your computer, open a Web browser, and in the address bar, type the printer's IP address or host name exactly as it displayed on the printer control panel.
